lyrics

sun's shining in my brain

You can hear the whispers
Just above the rain
It's cold eternal winter
She walks down Cedar Lane

Her dress the brightest colours
Illuminates the grey
There's little to imagine
It's short in every way

Her heel's couldn't be much higher
She glides with certainty
She know's there's eyes upon her
They watch her every day

The sun never shines round here
And I'm not giving into the rain
I wear this dress to make me feel
Like the sun's shining in my brain

And I don't feel
The cold and the rain

Men smile as they pass by her
She lifts her eyes up to the sky
It's not for them she wears the dress
They couldn't understand why

Why do women always hate her?
When all she does is try
Guess that's what this place can do
It put's they grey inside your mind

The sun never shines round here
And it's winter every day
I wear this dress to make me feel
Like the sun's shining in my brain

And I don't feel
The cold and the rain

Since this town began to cry
When the mill closed last July
No more work for anyone
Consumption's gone sky high

People quarelling in the streets
Shops are closing tradesmen leave
Sadness drips down from the sky
The grey is black in peoples eyes

The sun never shine's round here
It may be winter every day
But she don't feel
The cold and the rain

She don't feel
The cold and the rain
